Setting up your website template: WARNING: Because of the large sizes of sound files, you may want to keep your bandwith usage in mind on your account so you don't go over any limits if your site gets very popular. Also, all sound files used on Allwebco hosting MUST be legal for you to use and not infringe on any copyrights. Step 1: EDIT FLASH ANIMATION: | Click for more details Open the "flash.txt" file with Notepad and change the text following "logo=" with your name or website name. Edit the text following "&logo-subpages=". Be sure not to delete the "logo=" or the "&logo-subpages=". Edit &line1, &line2 and &line3 to update the Flash intro "index.html". For the intro page mp3 player (index.html) you can edit the playlist.txt, more details are in step 6. This will update the Flash logo on all pages. If you wish to use a graphic logo, there are instructions later in this document. Step 2: EDIT COPYRIGHT: | Click for more details Open the "copyright.js" file in Notepad or any text editor, and edit the "Name or Band Name" phrase with your site name. This will change the footer info on all pages. Edit all ".js" files with a plain text editor. Step 3: EDIT CONTACT INFO: | Click for more details Open the "phone.js" file in Notepad or any text editor and change the company name, address, phone and fax number and e-mail address (edit the e-mail in 2 places). This will update the lower contact info on the contact page. Step 4: EDIT THE CONTACT FORM: Click for current info on setting up the template forms. Click for info on adding more fields to the forms. Click for changing form sizes or colors. If you want to use only e-mail on the contact page you can remove the contact form from the "contact.htm" between the comment tags. Step 5: REPLACE THE GALLERY PICTURES: | Click for more details | Thumbnail Help The best way to setup the pictures in the gallery is not to actually edit the HTML pages and change the pictures on each individual page. The fastest way is to simply replace the pictures in the "gallery" folder with your own by overwriting the files that are in there now and using the same generic names. In the "gallery" folder, replace the 36 "Fgallery" pictures with full size photos. Replace the 36 "gallery" pictures with your thumbnails. The thumbnails are now 70 x 47 pixels but you can make them any size that you prefer. Full sized "Fgallery?.jpg" images are now 500 x 333 pixels. There is a section later in this document that explains how to change other template pictures on non-gallery pages. Step 6: EDIT THE SOUND: The intro page (index.html) is using a Flash mp3 player that is linked to the 5 homepage-?.mp3 files in the "samples" folder. Simply replace these 5 files with your own .mp3 files to update the intro. Edit the "playlist.txt" to change the 5 song titles. Edit the text following "&song1=" but do not delete the "&song1=" code. NOTE: Make sure the sample rate of your mp3 file is 44.1khz. For more on this player see options below. SAMPLES PAGES: | Click for more details The "samples" pages can use any type of sounds, .mp3, .mid, .wav or any other browser compatible files. You can replace all the .mp3 files in the "samples" folder with your own. Each is named for the page and placement on the page. Example: "song1-1.mp3" is in "samples1.htm", spot 1. "song2-12.mp3" is in "samples2.htm", spot 12. It's quicker to simply replace these mp3 files rather than edit the HTML pages, although you can do this either way. Editing song names in the "samples?.htm" pages is best done in Notepad before you start editing the pages using other HTML software because of the javascript. You can add more songs to each "samples?.htm" page. Step 7: EDIT THE MP3 PLAYER PAGE: | Click for more details You will edit the "player-home.htm" in the "samples" folder with your band info. Replace the 4 "player-image??.jpg" files in the picts folder with your own images. These images are 350 x 58 and 50 x 50 pixels. This will update the "samples" page mp3 "player" window. Step 8: EDIT SIDEBAR: | Click for more details The sidebar is the area on the right side of some pages with the gallery links and the small image. You will find some options at the top of the sidebar.js file. Some are turned off. For example, 3 images can be shown by choosing "yes" for the showimage options. Basically you can add anything you want to the sidebar including more links and notes. See the notes in the sidebar.js for adding links. Step 9: EDIT PAGES: | Software choices | Notepad Editing Edit the text on all HTML pages with your information. You can use Expression Web, Frontpage, Dreamweaver, GoLive, any wysiwyg HTML editor or a text editor like Notepad. Take care not to delete any of the HTML tags that surround the text. Step 10: EDIT TITLES, DESCRIPTIONS AND KEYWORDS: | Click for more details Open each of the pages and change the titles (at the very top of the page) and also the description and the keywords to match your product or service. You can edit one page and copy and paste to the other pages. Be careful to only change what's inside the "" so you don't disturb the html code. Page titles are important so your site will get a good listing at Google or MSN and other search engines. Step 11: UPLOAD: | Click for more details Upload the pages on to your hosting company's server using FTP software or Windows Explorer or your control panel. Be sure to upload the "picts" and "samples" and "gallery" and "flash" folders and all files in these folders. Options: USING A GRAPHIC LOGO: You can replace the Flash logo with a graphic logo. To do this, delete or rename the "header.js", then rename the "graphic_logo_header.js" to "header.js". In the picts folder you will find a graphic called "logo.jpg". Edit this graphic with your logo. It's best to keep this graphic 750 pixels wide or less. THE INTRO PAGE PLAYER: The index.html player is setup to play 5 songs. More can not be added. The "playlist.txt" includes the song titles for these selections. Also in this file: You can change the &playstart=YES& to "NO" if you do not want the sound to start when the intro page opens. You can also change the song file paths in the "playlist.txt". This is the code after "&loop1=". A file called "BACKUP-playlist.txt" is included in the "extras" folder in case you make en error in the "playlist.txt". THE INTRO PAGE PLAYER SKIN: The "index.html" player is skinnable so you can customize the look of this player. In the flash folder you will find the "mp3_player_skin.jpg". Some optional skins are included in the "extras" folder and you can create your own as well. To replace this "skin": Edit or delete the "mp3_player_skin.jpg". Then create a new .jpg file, call this "mp3_player_skin.jpg" and place this in the "flash" folder. A layered "mp3_player_skin.PSD" Photoshop file is included in the "extras" folder for editing. USING NO SOUND ON THE INTRO PAGE: If you would like no sound on the intro page of your website, open the "intro.js" in Notepad and change the "showplayer" variable to a "no". EDITING THE MP3 PLAYER VARIABLES: | Click for more details You can control the size of the player popup, or make the player full browser size. Open the "pop-closeup.js" in a text editor and edit the variables near the top of this file. USING THE SOUND PAGES FOR VIDEO: You can use any samples page for video. Click for details. FONTS: | Click for more details You can change your font colors and sizes by editing the "corporatestyle.css" with a text editor. You can find other font colors by clicking here. You can also change the font sizes in the "corporatestyle.css" file. Change the "TABLE" px size to change the copy on all pages. Change the "title" px size to change all the title sizes. CHANGING / ADDING MENU BUTTONS: | Click for more details You can change the names on the buttons like "samples" or "scene" to other page names by editing the "menu.js" in Notepad. Only change the one instance of the name and not the name with the ".htm" after it unless you are adding a new page. Whatever you change in the "menu.js" will update every page on the website. Keep the names short so they don't go outside the menu. You can add more pages by copying one button in the menu.js and pasting it right below the next. Be sure to back up your .js files before you edit them. Other files with links you can edit include the "menu_gallery.js" and the "sidebar.js". ADDING PAGES: | Click for more details You can add pages to your website by copying and pasting any one of the pages and renaming it to whatever you need. You can then add links from the other pages or even add the page to the menu by opening the menu.js and copying and pasting one of the buttons below another. There are notes in the "menu.js" to help you add a button. PICTURES: | Click for more details You can replace the pictures with your own. Main page images are now 750 x 80 pixels but you can use any size picture you want and the pages will size them to fit automatically. Each page has it's own picture which is named according to the page it's on. There are also 4 cd.jpg pictures to replace with your own cover art for the merchandise and samples pages. You will find all pictures in the "picts" folder. SITE MAP PAGE: The "site_map.htm" is linked from the index.html. It is best not to remove this link so search engines can find your site map and properly list all your pages when users search at major search engines. PAGE HEIGHTS: So all your pages will maintain a standard height a "pageheight.js" file was included. Edit this file in Notepad and you can change the height="???" to any height you need. The page height spacer is located on each HTML page just under the menu. TO REMOVE THE PAYPAL CART PAGES: Move the "merchandise.htm" page into your template "extras" folder. Remove the "Merchandise" link section in your "menu.js". PAYPAL SHOPPING CART SETUP | Click for more details Paypal shopping cart forms have been included in the template "merchandise.htm". Follow the steps below to setup the shopping cart pages.
